Breaking Dawn

I was walking to work yesterday and captured this shot of the sun rising. . . stunning or what?! Later I wrote a poem to go with the photo, it’s called “Breaking Dawn”. I hope you enjoy. 🙂

Sunrise

It looked like someone had lain a tie dye blanket

across the whole sky

pink seared the horizon line

purple crept along the corners

until even the clouds seem bruised,

the usual scape of blue

now a patchwork quilt

the same you make for a newborn baby

a jumble of hazy, mismatching colours

chaotic but beautiful.

The dawn of a new day

much like the dawn of a new life

the anticipation, the excitement

the glory of the unknown

with no idea of what is about to happen next

but knowing, somehow

it’s going to be amazing. . .
