Remember Them: 11th of the 11th

This is a poem I hope you can all relate to – I pray the day never comes when we forget to remember them:

Close your eyes, these two minutes mark

the time to remember those who were ripped from our hearts.

We will always mourn for them

let now be the time our thoughts are as one with them,

for those far-away, who may come back one day

and those who have fallen, never to return,

be it past or present, distant or absent

may our love for them burn as bright

as the poppies we wear with pride to mark their plight.

They lost their lives so we could live ours

the least we can do is remember them today

on the 11th month, of the 11th day, of the 11th hour,

for silence speaks louder than any words we could say.
